Hiring

Interview Partner

Drive your iOS hiring end-to-end when the team doesn't have enough in-house iOS depth to judge senior candidates, or isn't sure what level the role actually needs. Calibrate the brief, pre-vet CVs, run the technical interview, and deliver a written hire or no-hire call with reasoning.

Ideal fit

  • Non-iOS CTO or founder hiring their first iOS lead and can't calibrate the loop internally.
  • Startup with junior iOS staff trying to hire a senior or staff engineer.
  • Head of Talent or Talent Acquisition lead who needs iOS technical depth on the panel to land a critical hire.
  • Team that has mishired before and suspects the level calibration is off.
  • Founder in multi-hire mode who wants one person owning the iOS hiring bar across every candidate.

Scope

Three tasks, available individually or stacked:

  • 1. Seniority calibration and role description: read the actual tasks behind the role, decide what level it truly is (most teams over-call), and rewrite the role description to match. Stops the loop from pulling in the wrong candidate pool.
  • 2. CV pre-vetting: screen incoming applications against the calibrated brief. Return a shortlist worth your panel's time, with a one-line reason per accept or reject.
  • 3. Technical interview and written report: 60 to 90 minutes with the candidate. Mix of coding, architecture deep-dive, and iOS-specific probes (memory model, concurrency, UIKit and SwiftUI trade-offs, testing strategy). Followed by a written assessment.

Deliverables

  • Calibrated role description: the rewritten brief, with a note on what changed and why.
  • Shortlist with reasoning: the CV pipeline pre-vet output, named and prioritised.
  • Written interview assessment per candidate: strengths, gaps, hire or no-hire recommendation, and the reasoning that led there.
  • Assessments calibrated to your primary reader: deep-technical (iOS engineer reading alongside a hire), cross- technical (CTO, VP Eng, engineering manager), or executive (non-technical founder or Head of Talent).
  • Optional debrief call with the hiring manager for close-call candidates.

Timeline

Per-hire, or as a fractional iOS hiring lead on a monthly retainer for teams in multi-hire mode. Written interview assessments returned within 48 to 72 hours of the interview.

Bringing me onto a hiring loop?

Send a short note on the role, the team context, and which of the three tasks (calibration, CV pre-vetting, interviews) you need. I'll reply within 72 hours with scoping next steps and the primary reader of the assessments.
